Our Objectives
Develop and launch a national strategy to support and enhance inclusive education.
Influence reform on the barriers to accessing quality inclusive education at all levels.
Why It Matters
60% of children and youth with an intellectual disability are denied inclusive, quality education in Canada.
Segregated classrooms, seclusion rooms, limited access to educational supports, inaccessible spaces, and low expectations are just some of the ways children with an intellectual disability are excluded and discriminated against in Canadian schools.
Without access to quality inclusive education, people with an intellectual disability have limited employment and post-secondary opportunities and are more likely to live in poverty.

Our Vision
All people with an intellectual disability are fully included with their peers in regular education, with appropriate supports from early childhood through to post-secondary and adult life-long learning.
How You Can Help
Inclusion Canada hosts free, 35-minute Inclusion Matters Tours to raise awareness of Inclusion Canada’s work toward building an inclusive Canada for people with an intellectual disability and their families.
Our Work
What We're Doing
Inclusion Canada is advocating for more inclusive classrooms by developing practical resources and collaborating with experts in the field. Through our national initiative, Inclusive Education Canada, we've partnered with Community Living Fundy (NB) to create a resource website for educators and families to provide concise and accessible information on inclusive practices to improve learning outcomes for all students.
We’re influencing education legislation across the country, advocating for laws and policies that ensure inclusion from early childhood through to post-secondary learning, and ending harmful practices that are too often being used against students with disabilities. We’re also creating tools to help policymakers and educators fulfill their responsibilities and be held accountable for providing every child with a quality, inclusive education.
Check out our national initiative, Inclusive Education Canada, for more resources related to inclusive education.
